Meet Jon, Local Business Development Manager at Yeovil Audi
When it comes to supporting local businesses with their fleet and vehicle needs, experience and relationships matter. We sat down with Jon, Local Business Development Manager at Yeovil Audi, to learn more about his role, his passion for the motor trade, and his advice for businesses considering Audi vehicles.
What does your role as Local Business Development Manager involve on a day-to-day basis?
My role is to be the friendly, in-house specialist for businesses. Every day, I draw on over 20 years of experience in the motor trade to help customers find the right vehicle solutions for their needs. A big part of my role is staying connected with the manufacturer, keeping up to date with the latest market trends, fleet requirements, and funding options. That way, I can make sure I’m always offering the most relevant and valuable advice to our business customers.
What do you enjoy most about working with local businesses and building long-term partnerships?
For me, it’s all about the people behind the businesses. I’ve always been a bit of a car enthusiast, so I genuinely enjoy helping customers find vehicles that suit them perfectly. Building long-term partnerships is especially rewarding because you become a trusted point of contact. Over the years, I’ve worked with customers I first met more than a decade ago, it’s great to see those relationships grow and continue.
What advice would you give to businesses considering adding Audi vehicles to their fleet?
I’d always recommend looking beyond the initial cost and focusing on the overall value Audi vehicles offer. Things like strong residual values, advanced technology, and driver comfort all make a big difference. There’s also the intangible aspect, how driving an Audi makes you feel, which can be important for both employees and brand image. It’s also essential to explore the different funding options available and choose models that align with your operational requirements, as well as any sustainability goals your business may have.
What makes Yeovil Audi a great place for local companies to do business with?
At Yeovil Audi, we combine exceptional vehicles with a highly personalised service. We take the time to truly understand each client’s business and provide tailored solutions that work for them. Having a dedicated local contact and a friendly, knowledgeable team means the whole process is straightforward, efficient, and ultimately valuable for our business customers.
Tell us a bit about your background and journey into the motor trade.
After leaving school, I worked as a sailing instructor, and by the age of 21 I was managing beaches with over 120 boats on the water across France and Spain. I was lucky enough to travel extensively when I was younger, visiting places like America, New Zealand, Dubai, and Singapore. Those experiences have been invaluable they’re great for finding common ground with customers and breaking the ice. After finishing a season working at a surf school in Biarritz, I decided to turn my passion for cars into a career. Now, over 20 years later, I’m still in the motor trade and still genuinely enjoy looking after customers and talking about cars every day. These days, life is a bit more local, especially with my two young daughters and family life keeping me busy, but that local focus is exactly what makes working with businesses in the Yeovil area so rewarding.
